We currently have mixed HTTP and HTTPS access for our SharePoint site. External users use HTTPS and internal HTTP. For those accessing SharePoint outside the network Following does not function properly. We are using host named site collections which have
been setup using the http protocol so this is the URL in the default zone. If an external user follows the site, a link is added to their sites with the https protocol and is added to the my site content database. However, when a user goes to their my site
sites and clicks on the link it states that the link is no longer available. Looking at the ULS logs I have found that it's passing the http link rather than the https and if they don't have the http link followed they get the error. Why when following a host
named site collection does it always look for the default protocol rather than what was followed?
