We've got a strange issue with alerts on our new SharePoint 2013 Farm. Alerts appear to stop working if the Immediate Alert Timer job runs on the WFE-01 server. On any other server alerts work correctly, which includes one other WFE server and 2 APP servers.
A couple of days ago we had the same issue. We restarted WFE-01 which moves the job to another server and the alerts start to work. Then we restarted that server and the service returned to WFE-01, and continued to work.
So we assumed whatever was stopping it from working had cleared itself. But unfortunately that doesn't appear to be the case, as it has stopped again.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?
