I have a few questions on distributed cache service of sp2013
1. If I have dedicated host. Do I still have to stop at 16 GB of RAM? I saw very clear recommendation from MS to not to allocate more than 16GB of ram to DCS. This is OK... but if someone is using a dedicated machine then it leads to hardware waste because most VMs in our env are 32 GB+
2. Some documentation talks about DCS uses "twice the allocated size" ... this is little confusing. Others say that DCS uses 50% for data and 50% for internal housekeeping. What I am not sure is that if I allocate 8GB of RAM to DCS will it use 16GB (8GB for data and 8gb for internal) or will it use allocated 8GB (4gb for data and 4gb for internal)
3. If I have dedicated host... do I still have to install ALL the SP2013 binaries and then make sure all other services apart from the cache are shutdown? or can I have a minimal install which only puts the cache components and nothing else?
4. Lot of documentation talks about having the same memory allocated to DCS on all CacheHosts. does this also mean that all CacheHosts should have the same amount of total physical memory? or I can have a fixed amount for DCS which is same on all cache hosts... but VMs themselves can have different total physical memory?
