We currently have a SharePoint 2013 on-prem setup with UserLicenseMapping so some of our users have Enterprise and others only Standard CAL licenses. We have Excel Services setup for our Enterprise users in the PowerPivot gallery. I'm wondering if there
is a way to use the Excel Client App or Excel Web App for our Standard Users who don't need to run Excel Services. It seems like it's all or nothing. If a Standard user clicks on an Excel document that can run perfectly well in Excel Web App or the client
it states that the user does not have a license because it attempts to open all excel workbooks in Excel Services. I'm not sure if there is any way to check the user license and if it's Enterprise to open Excel Services otherwise open Excel Web App or the
client app or to have Excel Services take precedence over Excel Web App when both functions are installed.
