Upload multiple files in sharepoint grayed out

I am running Office 2010 (32 bit) and using IE 9 and 10.  I have a SharePoint 2010 site and when I try to upload multiple files, the item is grayed out and it says this option is disabled.

I have Silverlight running (I saw that on another post) so that is not the problem.

I have tried running in compatibility mode and that doesn't work either.

Any suggestions?
