I am struggling to find information on what options I have in SharePoint 2013 to build a public facing website with external user authentication. Do I need to set up a claims server for my external users? Is there information about how to use Windows Azure ACS for authentication? Can I use open providers like Facebook?
And once my customers are authenticated, do they have to be users in SharePoint, or is there a construct that would allow for external user authentication without being a full SharePoint user?
All of the information I can find about authentication is about using oAuth to authenticate/impersonate back to the current SharePoint users. Most of the web development topics are either for anonymous sites or for intranets. Any pointers to content areas where I can read up on this topic would be appreciated.
