SharePoint online log files

Hi,

I have been asked to look at whether a client can see who has viewed a particular file in SharePoint online.

I know that a new Auditing and Reporting feature is currently rolling out in Office 365. Does anyone know when this will be available, and whether it will report on historic data, and if so, how far back will these reports go?
