Where did the address book go on the Assigned To Column?

Hello,

This might be just my environment. In SharePoint 2013 I've added the Assigned To site column to a list. When I create a new item, I do not see the address book or the people picker icon next to the Assigned To field/column or in the ribbon.

Am I the only one having this issue or was the address book removed from SharePoint 2013 person/group columns?
