Hey guys,
Quite new to SharePoint and what experience I have is as a farm admin rather than designer / developer. I've a test and live SharePoint environment - the live environment I've recently inherited and had no involvement in the planning / design / creation of. I've built my own test environment that is very similar to that of the live environment other than design customisations. I'm looking to permit anonymous access to our live environment. So within my test environment I've;
- Enabled anonymous access in “Authentication Providers” (Central Administration > Application Management)
- Granted rights to anonymous users in “Site permissions” to whole site.
This then allows me to connect to and browse / navigate my test SharePoint environment without any prompts for credentials using any account. However, when I repeat the same steps within our live environment and attempt to navigate the site with an account without priv's I'm constantly prompted for credentials each time I navigate from one page to the next. For the most part, I can close the prompts (after closing it multiple times each time I navigate to a new page) and then it functions fine. I've checked "library settings" and they have "anon" access permitted. I've not got basic authentication enabled against the web apps.
Our live environment is quite heavily customized from a design point of view - although the designer is of little use in terms of assistance.
I'm pretty lost with this and so any guidance / pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers chaps / chapettes.
