Seeing as custom columns created in a SharePoint contact list do not transfer to contacts when synced with outlook, I have had to put my custom information (salutation info) into 'User Field 1'.
I am able to change the label on both SharePoint and Outlook to "Salutation". However, when I try and select the newly named column from the list of fields in a mail merge document, my column name doesn't appear. It does however, display User Field 1 and when I chose this option it populates with the correct Salutation information.
What I'm asking is: Is there a way to change the name of User Field 1 at the top level so I don't have to keep changing the column name every time I add a new contacts folder?
