We are using WSS 3.0 with Office 2007 - we have several users that try to check in a document by clicking on the "check-in" button in the right-hand panel and get this message: "There has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may be lost."
When they try to check in using the drop-down menu on the document's name (on the site itself) they get this message: "The document was checked out to your local drafts folder but the local copy could not be checked in to the site. Close any application that is editing the document and try to check in again, or discard the checkout."
The only thing they can do is discard the checkout. This is happening with 3 different users all using Office 2007 Word or Excel. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?
