We started a very small project in SP2010 which ended up with embarrassment for the SharePoint product.
We created a exchange mailbox for a meeting room. The idea was that when I invite people using outlook for a meeting, I just add the meeting room in the TO List of a meeting , and that makes the reservation for the team room.
Using free/busy people can see when it the meeting room free and when its blocked. and who is using them. It worked very well.
We thought it would be a good idea to do this for all meeting rooms and then attach all these mailboxes to SP2010 using Calendar Overlay.
The problem is that SharePoint 2010 provides no way in which you can specify that you want to see a specific calendar. using SP2010 it only shows the calendar of the userwho is currently logged on.
Again there are vendors selling special Sharepoint add-ons but in our environment such add-ons are not possible.
I had posted about this problem here
I wonder if SP2013 is any better at exchange calendar integration. OOB, can it show a different calendar than the currently logged on user?
