Replace !New Icon

Hello,

i want to replace the "!New" Icon in SharePoint 2013 with a custom Image for all SharePoint Webapps.
I tried replacing the defaul new.gif with my custom Image, but i still get the default Icon shown.

Any help would be appreciated.
