SharePoint Corrupting AutoCAD .dwt (Template) files

The company I work for has been storing AutoCAD dwt files on SharePoint for the past year or so.

Recently (last month) we (I) changed the folder structure and moved the AutoCAD templates to a new folder location. After changing where they where stored on the SharePoint we ran into issues.

When I upload an AutoCAD dwt files to the SharePoint and then try to open them or save to desktop and try to open them I'm being given an error in AutoCAD (LT and Full) that the drawing doesn't exist in that location and uses the AutoCAD default template file.

The weird thing is if I upload the AutoCAD .dwt files back into the original folder they where in I don't get any errors.

Things I've tried to no avail:

  • Un-Syncing the entire office from the New Drafting Standards folder who set it up with SkyDrive Pro
  • Creating a new test folder
  • Making a new SharePoint template from the old folder that worked and creating a new SharePoint folder from that
  • Checking every setting between the folder that works and the one that doesn't
  • Having other people try uploading it (Including the global Admin Account)
  • Undoing any privileges that have been changed.
  • Trying AutoCAD .dwt releases 2011/2012/2013/2014
  • See if they throw the issue with standard dwg files in the above releases (which they don't)

One of the only things I haven't been able to try is that the original folder that worked was created when we where using SharePoint 2010 and the new folder is in SharePoint 2013 (upgraded in May). Having said that we have other folders from before the upgrade that are throwing this issue as well if I upload the files there.

One thing I did do was do a lot of changes to the folder in question with SkyDrive Pro, but with the test folder I created wasn't touched with SkyDrive Pro and the files where still corrupted.

The files I'm uploading are currently not set as "read only"

There must be something I'm missing, as I'm sure I'm/we're no the only people trying to do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
