Access-SharePoint open with "Windows cannot find file DATABASE.accdb"

We're running MOSS 2007 and Access 2007 for over three years.  I have a Access "switchboard" application that draws all of it's data from 8 sharepoint lists. It's worked for over two years without errors. Just this week we've not been able to run the application. It starts with a clear blank white screen with "Alameda Report Database" at the top, waits 15 seconds and opens a error dialog with "Windows cannot find 'DATABASE.accdb' Please...."

I've moved the list items to a new, clean site; started the app with the "Shift-double-click" process (it opens, but not into the primary Switchboard form); run Compact and Repair (at least six times); tried the recompile method (errors out); turned off DDE in advanced options; etc...

All the data is there and the application runs correctly if i first start wtih the "Shift-doubleclick" option.  I need to get this back to operations - any ideas?
