Newsfeed app with UAG

Hi,

I have SharePoint 2013 published via UAG, I use the same url for internal and external access (mysites.company.com).

I can access the mysite newsfeed fine if I go through the browser, but I cannot get the newsfeed app from my windows phone, or my windows 8 laptop to open the newsfeed. I cannot sign in.

this would appear to be an authentication issue, and I have read something about basic authentication being a requirement to get this working, but I do not know how to configure this.

Any ideas??
