A web analytics report is not available for this site. Usage processing may be disabled

Hi Everyone,

My analytics reports don't have any data in SharePoint 2013.  here's the scenario....

Clean install of SharePoint 2013 Standard, April 2013 CU.

Usage Data collection is enabled, and I’ve confirmed this via powershell (Get-SPUsageDefinition & Get-SPUsageApplication)

I have a job definitions running –

Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Import

Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing

The Usage and Health database is about 2.8GB so I assume there is data in there. What I don’t see though is any data under D:\....\UsageLogs\AnalyticsUsage, (only ImportProgress.ini file) not sure if I should.  The Search Service Application is running as the Farm account and this has full permissions to this folder.

I have a site collection / site based on the Collaboration - Community template.

Usage:

Going to a Site Settings > Site Web Analytics, I get –

“A web analytics report is not available for this site. Usage processing may be disabled on this server or the usage data for this site has not been processed yet.”

On the left I see some of the types of reports I’d like (Number of Page Views, Number of Unique Visitors, Number of Referrers, Top Pages, Top Visitors, Top Referrers, Top Browsers.) However they all give the same message “…report is not available….”

This uses /_layouts/15/start.aspx#/_layouts/15/usageDetails.aspx

Interesting also is if I enable the “Reporting” Site Collection Feature the Site Settings > Site Web Analytics link disappears and is replaced elsewhere withPopularity Trends (under Site Administration)

This uses /_layouts/15/Reporting.aspx?Category=AnalyticsSite

Search:

If I go to SPCA > Application Management > Manage Service Applications > Search Service Application > Usage Reports

I get what looks like the right Search Reports listed, when clicking them, I get an .xlsx created. Opening them the format is good, but there is almost no data in most of them, except a couple of single entries which are incomplete compared to the test searches I’ve done.

Summing up:

It looks like I need to enable usage data collection/processing somewhere else somehow and it looks like Search analytics might of worked very briefly but not anymore.

Questions:

Can anyone point me to more documentation – info on Analytics for 2013 is very limited.

I’m using SQL authentication with my SQL backend.  I wonder if Analytics is supported for this? (2010 documentation suggests it isn’t on that version).

Is SharePoint 2013 *Enterprise* required for analytics?  I cannot find a decent version/edition comparison document.

Can anyone help? ideas?

Thanks,

Adrian.
