Hello, I have been looking into SharePoint to host an Access database, and i have some questions that someone can hopefully answer. I have looked through the forums and didn't find much about my problem.
I need to be able to have multiple people make changes to a database offline, then have everyone "sync" back up with it when an internet connection is established. So ideally, everyone would have a copy of the database on their tablet and be able to sync them together into one location.
I have come across some issues:
1. Document sharing doesn't seem to work, because if multiple people work on the database offline, and later they both try to sync, it gives priority to the person that synced first, and gives an error to anyone after. I was hoping there would be a way to tell Access or SharePoint that I am working offline, and it would then keep a log of what has been changed, kind of like what a web database does. Does that feature exist?
2. A web database seems like it would be perfect for what I need. I have used the Access templates and it appears that you can work offline and sync as needed. However, when I try to convert my database into a web database I get hundreds of errors. Which leads me to think it would be easier to archive my current database, and start with a fresh web database. Which would be quite a lot of work. Is there a way to use the same sync feature that the web database uses, but in document sharing?
3. A web app looked like it would also work, but I couldn't find a way to work offline. Is there a way to work offline with an Access web app?
I am looking for the simplest solution, so if i am missing something please let me know how you would do it.
Thanks!
