I'm having a discussion with my Dell rep about CALS and he can't seem to answer one question. I understand about licensing models with MS. I understand STD CALS vs Enterprise CALS and how an internal user would need both to use enterprise features in SP 2013.
What I don't understand is, do you now have to somehow install CALS on the server or in your AD environment. One of his engineers briefly mentioned "reading from active directory to know if a user has verified CALS". This would be a big change to their licensing stuff.
Can anyone clarify, do you install cals now on the server or into AD?
