Our SharePoint 2013 on-prem production environment will be one farm with multiple web applications. We anticipate an App Catalog for each web application. We would like to allow administrators of each web application to add whatever apps from the app store they would like, without those apps becoming available to other web applications.
According to Hillier and Pattison’s SharePoint 2013 App Development, “you will not see apps that have been published to an app catalog site in a different web application.” However, in our dev site, the observed behavior is when an app is downloaded, the app immediately becomes available to every web application across the farm. I even tried downloading an app from within a web application that did not have an app catalog, with the same result.
Why is this? How do I make SharePoint behave?
