Problem: In "Library Settings" on an otherwise empty site we used "Add from existing site columns" link to add the "Description" field. As a result, documents that are now added to the library must be checked in by the user, even if there are no required fields (changed Description to have a default value). That is a problem we would like to avoid so we would like to remove the Description field. It should show up when one clicks the "Add from exiting site column" again so it can be removed. But it is not in the list of fields to be added or removed. This has the appearance of a bug although we are inexperienced SharePoint users.
Requirement: Need to remove this field from the Column List of a document library.
Note: A similar post was made by another user in March with no clear response (or using PowerShell which seems odd)
