Strangely, I am not finding this problem in the existing forum posts.
Sharepoint version: WSS 2007
Sharepoint Designer version: 2007
My versioning settings: Do not require content approval, no versioning, do not require documents to be checked out.
I have a user who has uploaded several documents. These are automatically checked out even though all the versioning settings are off. (That problem isn't really relevant to the present question, although it is annoying.) I go into the Checked Out Files screen and take ownership of all the files--none of these, of course, have a checked-in version.
When I open up Sharepoint Designer, none of these files show as being checked out. There's no green check mark and no way to make it appear. The files don't show in the site's checked-out report in Designer. All the files do show as 0KB even though I can open them from Designer. If I right-click on the file, I don't get the option to check in or out. The only way I can check in the file is to check in each file manually from the document library view in Sharepoint. When I do this, none of the files are giving me reasons they can't be checked in.
What's the deal?
