We have the need to create a portal for customers and vendors to exchange highly sensitive files. External users should be able to add content and search/view their own content. It is HIGHLY INNAPPROPRIATE for the embedded social features to even be visible with highly sensitive documents. A literally "classified" document should not have links to "Share" or upload to SkyDrive.
Is there a built-in site type, or master page, or something where an external site can be created such that NONE of the social features are even visible? I have been contacting as many resources as I can and everyone keeps saying that Microsoft dropped the ball on this one and so integrated the social features that its nearly impossible, if not actually impossible to get the social features eliminated from a site.
Please, tell me that someone at Microsoft forecast the need for secure web portals and built something natively within SharePoint to address this issue? Please, there is native sites for secure portal usage, right?
So far, I am at a loss and so is every consultant and/or firm we contact who all seem to claim that SharePoint 2013 isn't really usable for a business that wants their content to be secure and displayed professionally. They all say permissions can be set, but the rules are goofy (I.e. a user with read permissions has access to invite other users to read documents... what? Seriously?) In addition, if permissions are denied the buttons and links are still visible giving the appearance that security is not existent.
I really see a lot of uses for the social features but a substantial amount of business content should not be in a document library or other sites with "Share This", or "Invite XYZ", or "Like This", or "Upload to SkyDrive".
Please, help! Tell me those people are wrong! A site can quickly be created where its entire design is structured or centered around the professional and secure exchange of classified documents? Where those features have to recognized as simply off-putting, unprofessional, and obviously ... simply unacceptable for secure web portals. How is a secure site for sensitive/classified documents created in SharePoint 2013?
Thanks!
