Variations and Multilingual metadata navigation using Cross site publishing

I'm trying to build a multilingual site using cross site publishing. I have setup a authoring and a publishing site collection. This is how I have set things up:

Term store

- A term set for tagging within the product catalog and for displaying as managed navigation on publishing site

- Has one term set with different languages. en-us and nl-nl

Authoring site collection

- Root variation site (target) using en-us as base language

- Variantion site nl-nl (source) has been created. The product catalog has been synced by the target.

- Using product catalog with image content type and has the site column item catalog connected to my metadata term.

- Has a product catalog which uses item catalog to tag items.

Publishing site collection

- connected to the product catalog

- using managed navigation

My question: How can I display the translated terms from Dutch (Netherlands) within the publishing site nl-nl? I really don't have a clue how to accomplish this. The navigation term will be used on multiple publishing sites. So I don't want to duplicate a term set for each variation. Anyone?
