How to create alert for New discussion topics only with the link to topic page that shows replies also?

I created an alert for Community site -> discussions list for New Items Only, On Subject View and Immediate alert. This sends email only when a topic is posted and NOT when a reply is posted. But the link on the email takes me to the pagehttp://webapp/sites/CommunitySite/Community Discussion/DispForm.aspx?ID=874 in which the replies are NOT shown.

The same link http://webapp/sites/CommunitySite/Community Discussion/DispForm.aspx?ID=874 shows the Replies if I create the alert for All Changes, Anything Changes and Immediate alert.

Kind of weird!!!

I want to be able to click the link from alert email and reach the topic page where it shows the topic and replies.
