Client Side Object Model (CSOM) cs Client Object Model (COM) in SP2010

Hi All,

In SP2013 i have noticed that there is a api called Client Side Object Model (CSOM), i am wondering is it the Client Object Model (COM) that was in SP2010 or it is a new api.
