The PowerPivot Gallery Snapshots appear to work just fine in our SharePoint 2013 environment until we enable UserLicenseMapping. I tracked the ULS for GallerySnapshot.exe after uploading a PowerPivot workbook and everything runs fine with UserLicenseMapping disabled. Once I enable UserLicenseMapping and uploaded the same PowerPivot workbook again the snapshot fails with the error "An error occurred while capturing snapshots for this document." If I check the ULS log for GallerySnapshot.exe I found the error "An error occurred: 'System.TimeoutException: The operation has timed out.'. Additional information ... property: 'timeout' value: 'True'."
Any ideas on why enabling UserLicenseMapping would cause the snapshots to fail? I uploaded the PowerPivot workbook and am an Enterprise user. I also tried to set our SharePoint Web App user account Enterprise access as this is the account that the GallerySnapshot.exe process runs as according to the task manager. Still no go though.
This appears to just be a snapshot issue. The document opens in Excel Services just fine with or without UserLicenseMapping enabled.
Thank You
