I have a SP2013 document library where a column is marked as required. When the user uploads a document by clicking the '+new document' button. Everything works as required (the user can not save without entering the required properties).
In reality users 'Drag files', and as we know the dialog requesting to set the properties does not pop up. (I found a thread that this was fixed in 2016 but we are running recent updates and it does NOT work). Instead the document remains checked out, whether the library requires check out or not. To add insult to injury, the user can (if he realizes the document is still checked out without calling IT support) simply go to the properties of the document and check in the document (that's right, there's no need to fill in required properties is there).
Is there a fix for this or do we just have to live with the fact that after all these years SharePoint, is still barely stable/finished enough for an alpha release (certainly not good enough for the price we are paying).
