This is a really odd one! (And why do I always get the odd ones?)
We have a user who tried to rename a image file in a picture library but the outcome was that the file disappeared but the metadata for the file remains!
When we go to the library view, we can see the file metadata, but the thumbnail for the image is replaced with a generic and oversized image of a blank piece of paper. If we click on it we get HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. If we go into Explorer view, we don't see the image file. We can't delete the item even with farm/admin account. We get Access Denied when we tried to. We can't check permission of the item, can't do anything with it except viewing the metadata, not even with PowerShell.
I tried to rename a file in the QA environment of the site and could not replicate this issue. The file was renamed properly.
So I'm wondering if there's anyway to remove this corrupted item?
Thank you for any input.
