SharePoint File Lock for more than 10 minutes

Hi,

I understand that there is a file lock that locks recently updated office document files (doc, docx, xls, xlsx, etc) for 10 minutes. However, we are getting increasing number of feedback where the files are still locked even after waiting for 10 minutes. I have checked it up and realized that the duration between the lock start and lock expiry time amounts to about 30 hours.

Is there any solutions I can do to resolve this issue or removing this file lock feature?
