We are considering SharePoint as our DMS solution.
How does data actually get into SharePoint. I.e. if somebody saves any Office doc, including Outlook .msg files and the emails/attachments themselves, how does that automatically get sent to SharePoint. We don't want to tell users once they saved something they need to manually 'upload' it to SharePoint. This applies to any application data, Nitro PDF documents for example.
In other words, every single thing that's saved to a specific server (i.e. File server) or comes in/goes out by email we want it in SharePoint seamlessly as this will be our one and only front-end to accessing files - the plan is to do away with network share drive mappings completely.
If SharePoint cannot do this, is there any DMS that can?
