What does IE7 incompatibility really mean?

Hi all

According to this, SharePoint 2013 does not support IE7. What does that really mean? Is it only a matter of policy or will users experience problems?

My company is considering using SP2013 for BI purposes, but they are worried about the IE7 issue, and I wouldn't want them to drop SP2013 because of this!
