IE 8 cannot load the home page of a SharePoint 2013 site

Just created my first site in SP 2013 and my IE 8 install can't access it correctly.  It loads some of the page (top bar) and then displays "Working on it" will will persist indefinitely.

  • My office neighbors have no problems accessing this same site with their instances of IE 8.
  • It works on IE 9/10 on my system in Server 2008 and Windows 8 virtual machines respectively running on my system.
  • It works on any other browser on my system (chrome, firefox).

I've correlated the settings of my failing IE instance with those running on my virtual machines that work.  Virtually Identical...

Works fine with our SP 2010 installation...

While this is spinning doing nothing in IE, an error is indicated on the page which states:

Webpage error details

Not sure if that helps or not.

I've done a "Reset Internet Explorer settings", no change.

Any idea what might be wrong?

Paul
