Hello,
Background
I'm building a lab to develop/test SharePoint apps utilizing Visual Studio, Info Path and other forms technologies using SQL server and/or Access. I would like to configure a simple SharePoint topology on a single server without fault tolerance because only one or two clients; typically me, as an admin and single Home/small business user will access this lab.
When I get advice from retailers I feel that I'm being sold on overkill specifications, I don't have that "just right" scenario.
I have a desktop with a two core processor; Intel I-5 at a 2.4 Gig clock speed, 8 Gig DDR-3 RAM with 3 Terabytes of raid 3 ROM space that I plan to convert.
My Questions:
Given my intended use
- Is it necessary to upgrade my processor beyond 4 core and RAM beyond 32 Gigs?
- will I have multi-threading issues with Win server 2012 Essentials?
- What version of SharePoint 2013 will work best within a one server install using Win 2012 Essentials
- Can SharePoint 2013 & SQL server 2012 efficiently co-exists within a Win server essentials?
- is there a particular sequence to install SharePoint 2013 and SQL server
